When discussing emotional and mood states, one of the most prevalent in equestrian sports is that of anxiety or stress. Not only do riders perceive feeling anxious as unpleasant, but most riders would also agree that the sensation of 'being stressed' is highly likely to have a detrimental effect on the interaction with their horse. Despite still being able to ride a horse whilst feeling anxious or stressed, effective horse-rider communication often goes awry.
